Seniors

Water Exercises

Water Aerobics is a fitness workout that incorporates lots of fun into a full body workout.

  • Truly for all levels. Each participant decides his or her own pace and repetitions.
  • For anyone with compromised ankle, knee and hip joints – the water significantly reduces the impact on your joints.

DANCE

The SNJCS serves as great stepping stone into youth activities. Classes are taught by highly-trained instructors in a fun and encouraging environment. Students will learn the fundamentals of dance, how to control their body movements and have a greater awareness of rhythm and music.

MARTIAL ARTS

Learn how to use strength effectively, maintain cardiovascular fitness, improve flexibility and coordination. Embracing the mental and spiritual element of martial arts will improve the mind’s focus and enable you to develop self-control, build confidence and manage stress. These classes are not meant to promote fighting.

TENNIS LESSONS

Our goal is to make your experience fun and rewarding by welcoming both new and long-time players into our program. Our experienced, friendly staff will assist you in finding the right program or activity that is best for you. Once involved, you’ll meet many new players and make new friends. Get started today!

YOUTH SPORTS

When youth play sports with the SNJCS they gain more than just exercise. They learn what it takes to be a leader in sports and in life. Understanding the fundamentals of the game and safe play are just the beginning. Our coaches help guide youth through learning the essentials of physical fitness, healthy development, and participation. We focus on improving their confidence and maintaining their determination.

CHILDREN AND TEENS

The values and skills learned early in life are vital building blocks for a successful adulthood, and we believe all kids deserve a strong start and a safe place to grow. Parents trust the SNJCS’s child care programs to support and nurture their children from infancy through the teen years and help them become strong, capable and engaged young people.

AFTER SCHOOL

As a leader in youth development, the SNJCS After School Program serves children ages 5-14 on a daily basis providing safe, quality, affordable afterschool care. School age children are welcome to enroll in any of our afterschool programs.

SNJCS members and non-members are welcome to enroll.

EARLY LEARNING CHILD CARE

The SNJCS at Salem County Early Learning Centers provides infant, toddler and preschool child care with developmentally appropriate learning activities. The purpose of the Early Childhood Program is to provide affordable childcare in an environment that helps to facilitate a child’s cognitive, social, physical and emotional growth.

 At the SNJCS, we believe that the successful development of our youth is fulfilling their innate need to be loved, spiritually grounded, educated, competent and healthy. Our programs are designed to nurture the potential of our young people in ways that foster achievement, positive relationships, and belonging. We know strengthening and empowering our youth today is investing in a stronger community tomorrow

SWIMMING

Swimming at the SNJCS helps people thrive—in and out of the water. Swim lessons provide the opportunity to set goals and achieve success, learn water safety and enjoy swimming as a form of exercise. Through swimming lessons, swim teams, lap swimming and more, the SNJCS at Salem County provides a safe environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

ADULT SWIM LESSONS

The SNJCS Swim Lesson Curriculum is a core group of aquatic skills every person needs to be safe around water. As the foundation of our program, these skills allow students to learn correct swim stroke techniques. Students begin with and build upon skills they are ready to learn, helping them to celebrate their successes, build self-confidence, and enjoy learning to swim and water safety. 

SWIM TEAMS & SWIM CLUBS

Becoming a member of a SNJCS Swim Team means fun, fitness and teamwork. SNJCS swim teams are run by trained coaches and are designed to improve a young person’s swimming skills, endurance, and racing techniques, in a fun, non-competitive environment. SNJCS swim teams promote healthy lifestyles while embracing the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

SAFETY AROUND WATER

Teach your children water safety and let them explore all their possibilities. The SNJCS believes that every child deserves the opportunity to learn how to swim and the Safety Around Water Class will introduce the following:

• Exercise to help kids adjust to being in the water

• Fun activities to reinforce skills learned

NUTRITION

Learning about nutrition at a SNJCS teaching kitchen

The SNJCS Nutrition Program is about inspiring health and wellness through the preparation and enjoyment of food. Participants will develop basic cooking skills as part of a healthy lifestyle through hands-on learning experiences. Classes for kids and families. Promotes healthier choices while celebrating wholesome and delicious flavors

WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM

The desire to lose weight is not uncommon for individuals interested in obtaining a healthier lifestyle. True wellness includes achieving and maintaining optimal body weight. At the Y, there are many pathways available to support you on your journey toward successful weight management. Program is written and administered by a licensed Physcian.

VOLUNTEERING

The SNJCS exists to strengthen the foundations of our community through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. We are a place where anyone and everyone can find respite from the social, physical, economic and/or educational challenges, and learn how to overcome them.

People engage with the SNJCS on one level, but they soon find a deeper meaning to their activities and a connection to those around them. Ultimately, at its highest form, they feel compelled to volunteer, to give back and help others strengthen the entire community.
